The VISION Project

Graphitech has won a tender for a study to define recommendations for the EC in the domain of visualisation, simulation and visual computing.

Bruxelles, 9 February 2012. Fondazione Graphitech has officially started the activities of the project VISION “Visualisation Simulation and visual cOmputing techNologies” during the inception meeting held in Bruxelles at the Information Society and Media (INFSO) Directorate General (DG) of the European Commission the European Commission.

VISION is an initiative funded by INFSO DG to analyse and assess the position of EU industry and research community in the area of simulation, visualization and visual computing technologies.

The ultimate goal of the initiative is to identify recommendations to be fed into the Horizon 2020 Strategic Framework and Work Programme preparation process. The project, that will end at the beginning of 2013, will follow a grassroots approach, by promoting engagement of the largest number of experts, from both academia and industry, in order to:

  • Identify general trends, challenges and opportunities,
  • Identify key players at global and EU level,
  • Analyse the competitive position of EU research and industry,
  • Identify research trends and barriers,
  • Investigate market trends and barriers, including definition of recommendations for future R&D priorities n the area to be supported at EU level,
  • Propose recommendations for the definition of a EU strategy in the field including research, innovation and market uptake.


Call for experts is open

The project warmly invites experts and stakeholders in the domain of visualization, simulation and visual computing technologies to join the activities of the project. A large community of experts is expected to be involved in a number of open consultation cycles necessary to identify developments, technologies, new fields of application, new market opportunities of strategic interest for the next framework programme of the European Commission.
