Graphitech has joined the kickoff of the Smart-Islands EU project in Malta on 30^th August 2011.

SMART-ISLANDS delivers a GeoPlatform/Globe with 8 integrated Smart Webservices specifically addressed to Mediterranean Islands that are small and have unique characteristics—However, the SMART-ISLANDS Platform can have an EU-wide and international applicability and value once delivered to the market in 2012.

The SMART-ISLANDS Webservices cover the wide range of applications: (1) 3D Smart-Yachting (Transport), (2) 3D Smart-Aerodrome (Transport), (3) 3D Smart-Leisure (Citizens), (4) Smart Real-Estate (Business), (5) Smart Statistics for Planning (Infrastructure), (6) 3D Forest Fire Fighting (Environment), (7) Smart- Retailing (Commercial), and (8) 3D-Weather (Citizens, Government). Services are smart as of the input data retrieval and the user friendly interfaces by PC/Web and mobiles phones (PDA/iPhone/iPAD)—However, the SMART-ISLANDS Platform will feature “plugs-in” to accommodating additional services after 2012.

After the success of the public received in Brussels (more than 25,000 visitors in 6months), the exhibit "ETRUSCHI IN EUROPA" (The Etruscan in Europe) finally will be hosted in Trento.

The traveling multimedia exhibition created by Historia - Association for the Dissemination and Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Italy with the technical collaboration of the Fondazione Bruno Kessler supported by Fondazione GraphiTech, will be held at the Museum of Science of Trento from 9 September, and will be open until January 9, 2012. The exhibition uses the anaglyph technology (two-color glasses) to allow users to experience 3D major Etruscan archaeological sites reconstruction.

The paper, co-authored by Graphitech's staff members, titled "Integration of System Simulation and Geographical Information Processing for the Air-Pollution Emergency Situations Control and Decision Making" has recently received the best paper award at the InterSymp 2011. Baden Baden, Germany.
