Festival Dell’Economia 2010

Research Area: Cultural Heritage
Status: Finished
Project leaders: Raffaele de Amicis
Proposed start date: 2010-06-01 Proposed end date: 2010-06-01
Description:

Graphitech Foundation has designed with Informatica Trentina the “Arena” multimedia set-up.

Which is the main idea behind the project?

"We have decided to address this opportunity trying to benefit from scientific achievements as well as from results of technological innovation. This has been done through by taking a more creative and artistic approach, trying to involve the user by delivering strong emotions and by presenting topics strongly related to the territory they live in and to their very cultural identity.

The blend of these characteristics represents the very idea driving the whole project but also the hardest, yet most complex, challenge we have faced throughout the project.

The technological solution deployed relies on the concept of hypermedia and interactivity, and it has been the result of a careful blend of  traditional content and technological solutions, art and science.

Undoubtedly the visualization facilities have played a key role. We have successfully merged, on the one hand, synesthetic potential of new media, through the use of three-dimensional interfaces, temporal evolution, sound and dynamic effects and, on the other hand, the Trentino territory within its geographical, cultural, archeological and sustainable dimensions.

I must admit that Informatica Trentina has really challenged us and we, as Graphitech, have decided to take up this challenge in full. The cooperation between the two institutions has brought to a project where cultural identity of Trentino has been represented from a material standpoint (according to its physical, geographical, technological and infrastructural dimension), historical (according to temporal dimension) and societal (according to social, enterprise and symbolical dimension) through the use of technologies from a specific IT field that is interactive computer graphics.

To be honest we do really like such challenges but, above all, we like winning them!"
